New members joining the ESM syndicate are not charged any kind of fee. However, ESM will charge Investees a research fee at the point of investing.
ESM will co-invest with the Scottish Investment Bank from time to time and will always seek to make investments that are tax efficient for new and existing investors. More about the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme and the The Enterprise Investment Scheme schemes here.
Unfortunately ESM is unable to provide tax advice to existing and new investors but we can put investors in touch with expert tax advisors where requested.
Since we are non regulated in terms of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, we require each member to have up to date ‘High Net Worth’ or ‘Sophisticated Investor’ certificates in place (as set out under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Financial Promotion) Order 2005). We also require to comply with the Money Laundering Regulations which involves an ID check to be carried out on each new member and every five years thereafter.

Becoming an Investor
ESM is currently targeting Scotland based companies. ESM is not considering other industry sectors at this time. SEIS or EIS qualifying companies only.
ESM will work with the founders to plan around this.
ESM will typically invest £200k – £500k over the life of an investment, but this is not prescriptive. Each funding round is typically provided by 3-5 of ESM’s individual investors.
