Introducing the ESM team
The ESM team is experienced at investing in early growth stage technology companies since we have been investing since 2011.
We fundamentally invest in people.
We invest time and energy upfront to get to know the founders of Investee companies. We believe that many of the barriers to investee company growth can be overcome by maintaining a positive attitude, having access to an experienced non executive Director resource for advice when required, but of course we also recognise the importance of timing to market, a need for relentless energy and in having luck!
The ESM team is supported by a wider group of members that offer their experience and time to Investee companies. We refer to this as value add since the success of any investment ESM will require more than money.

Steven Morris
Role – Managing Partner
Steven is an experienced technology entrepreneur, investor and Non-Executive Director. Steven has successfully cashed out of one technology business that he founded and one other technology business as an investor. More recently Steven partially cashed out of another technology business as an investor. These exits achieved a 20x, a 10x and a 4x return on investment to shareholders respectively. Steven currently chairs several early-growth stage technology companies in the UK and has a decade of experience as a technology sector investor. Steven has been a Stirling City Commissioner since 2017 and more recently has become an Honorary Business Fellow of the Adam Smith Business School at Glasgow University.
Victoria Russell
Role – Events, coaching and mentoring
An experienced Management Consultant whose deep knowledge of cultures, leadership and team dynamics is used to deliver intervention programmes to entrepreneurs and senior team members, both in the UK and internationally. Programmes are focused primarily on strategy, leadership and executive coaching, particularly with transformational change. Victoria joined ESM Investment Corporate Services in 2017. She manages ESM investor communications, organises investor events and supports portfolio companies with investor readiness, particularly in the areas of personal branding, pitching and the development of business plans.
David McIntosh
Role - Investor Director, board and NED positions
Former Managing Director of Menzies Distribution, experienced Investor and Non-Executive Director and corporate finance specialist. Experienced in mergers, acquisitions and disposals. David trained as an Accountant with EY and has worked with ESM Investments Corporate Services since 2014.
Danny Meaney
Role - Member of ESM Investment Panel & ESM sponsor development
Co-creator of private and public sector funds. Experienced investor and business growth specialist. Currently serving as a Non-Executive Director for a number of Boards in the private and public sector. Danny was formerly a Digital Industries Trade Ambassador for the UK Government. Prior to joining ESM Investments, Danny founded The UP Ventures Group, a growth partner for corporates and scale-ups providing business acceleration programmes and mentoring. Danny Meaney and Steven Morris and have worked together on boards for over 4 years.
Tom Angus
Role – Company finance and portfolio company monitoring
Tom track record in a funding and advisory capacity has been developed in a segment of the market both adjacent and complementary to that where ESM have successfully operated to date, with larger scale, high growth companies and their investors in SCV’s target geography.
Scott White
Head of PR
Experienced Director Of Public Relations with a demonstrated history of working in the financial services industry. Skilled in Crisis Management, Public Affairs, Corporate Social Responsibility, Investor Relations, and Integrated Marketing. Strong business development professional. Scott joined ESM in 2019 to provide corporate PR services.
Mark Davidson
Associate Director
Mark’s background is in finance, commercial, and mergers and acquisitions role within the private sector. With extensive experience in developing and implementing both organic and inorganic growth strategies, Mark has a track record of delivering business success. Since 2020, Mark has worked closely with ESM, undertaking due diligence related work and preparing investee companies for the ESM investment process.
